Tre Mostyn

The road between Rhewl and Tre Mostyn will be closed for the week to facilitate
drainage works on a stretch of road that floods during times of heavy rainfall.  
Diversions have been set up around the village.

Halloween

Mostyn children celebrated Halloween dressed in a variety of costumes visiting
houses throughout the village asking residents for a ‘trick or treat.’  The children
were dressed in a variety of costumes posing as witches and wizards, goblins and
monsters together with the odd skeleton,  the stormy October evening adding to the
scary night.

Mostyn Post Office

Brenda Balnd sub-postmistress of Mostyn Post Office plus customers Norma Massey
friend Jean, Beryl Hughes and Noreen Roberts all made the trip to The Houses of
Parliament in London to lobby their MP David Hanson over the future of local  Post
Offices throughout Flintshire.  sThe group met with Delyn  MP David Hanson in the
House of Commons who discussed the situation and reiterated  that he was pressing the Government for more services to be directed at the Post Office together with an
enlargement of banking services  available across the counter.  David assured the group
that he was aware that people relied greatly on the social role that the Post Office provided.

 

Planning

Flintshire County planners are being asked to consider an application by
Mr. J Mound for the renewal of outline planning permission at Wayside Glan y Don
Mostyn for residential development.

 

Holyland Trip

The 8th November will see the daughter of sub-postmistress Brenda Bland Sarah, take
part in a trip with the Rev.Clive Southerton to the Holyland.   Brenda and Sarah would
like to thank everyone in Mostyn who helped to make the trip a reality, raising over £400
from Mostyn alone.

Fireworks

Mostyn CBM John Hewitt and colleagues are asking people to behave responsibly with
fireworks over the weekend.  John said the police would be coming down heavily on people buying selling or using fireworks illegally but was keen to stress that Bonfire night should
be fun for all.

Credit Union

Vince Rutter chief cashier of the Mostyn Branch of the All Flintshire Credit Union
is urging people to get involved in a financial revolution that is happening right here
in Mostyn.  The Credit Union is a savings and loan organization that is run by the
people for the benefit of the people with interest rates way below high street lenders. 
Vince said, the credit union opens in Hebron Chapel every Monday from 10am and is
the viable alternative to unscrupulous money lenders and high street banks. More and
more people in the village are realizing the benefits and every week we get new
members opening an account.”   To get involved call in at the Credit Union or ‘phone

Community Council

If you are a group in Mostyn and require financial assistance you should apply to The
Mostyn Community Council who will be considering applications at their November
meeting.  For more information or to apply  ontact the clerk  Mike Thomas, 23 Julius

Bulk Collections

Flintshire County Council would like to remind residents that a bulk collection
service is available for large items of furniture and excess garden waste.  The
service is free to some householders in receipt of benefits or of pensionable age.
